Daniel Bard admits that he's a much different pitcher now than when he first arrived in the majors. But it's for the better.
Bard said that he's worked hard to develop his secondary pitchers, as he knows it will be extremely important to keep mastering those while he makes his transition to the starting rotation. In fact, Red Sox catcher Kelly Shoppach said that he was amazed by Bard's changeup when facing him in the past.
Bard also talked about what changes he expects now that he'll be starting games. The 26-year-old said that he understands the wear and tear that comes with starting, but that working out of the bullpen offers its own type of wear and tear. Therefore, he feels like he's well-equipped for his new role.
