Daisuke Matsuzaka Throws Live Batting Practice, Continues to Progress in Rehab From Surgery (Video)

Daisuke Matsuzaka continued his quest back to a big league mound on Monday morning in Florida.

Under the watchful eye of manager Bobby Valentine, pitching coach Bob McClure and general manager Ben Cherington, Matsuzaka once again threw live batting practice. It's the latest in the long line of steps for the right-hander in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Matsuzaka also threw live BP on Friday.

The right-hander addressed the media earlier in the spring, and while he wasn't willing to commit to a return date, he was hopeful that he'd return sooner than expected.

"The trainers have mentioned an approximate date where they expect me to make a return, but having said that I want to come back at 100 percent and I don't want to rush things and I want to make sure my body is right when I come back," he said just under a month ago. "But I also would like to come back as early as possible."
