Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov started off this season, looking like one of the worst net minders in the entire NHL. But the tides have turned for the Russian goalkeeper as of late and Bryzgalov is now one of the hottest goalies in the league.
After giving up 26 goals in just his first eight games of the season, worry began to spread throughout Philadelphia and the general consensus was to bench the Flyers' $51 million man. The 31-year-old Bryzgalov has come on extremely hot in recent weeks, allowing just seven goals during his seven-game win streak for the Flyers.
The Instigators discussed the Flyers' recent surge, going 7-1 in their past eight game, and how Bryzgalov's current hot streak has led to the team's march towards the playoffs. NESN's Barry Pederson and Craig Janney have been so impressed by Bryzgalov's recent success they have even jumped on the bandwagon, dubbing him "Mr. Universe" for his efforts.
