The 35-year-old Moss, who announced his return to football last month, worked out for the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday afternoon and reportedly "lit it up" in his return to the field.
According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Moss "looked like the old Randy" while running 45 routes in front of Saints officials on the afternoon. Moss caught balls from former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brian Brohm and supposedly left onlookers "floored" with his performance.
The Saints could be in dire need for help on the outside, especially given the potential loss of both Marques Colston and Robert Meachem via free agency. That means Moss' workout could be more than just the Saints doing their due diligence and the 13-year veteran may well end up in New Orleans come training camp.
The impressive outing shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to football fans, especially in New England, as Moss has looked to be all but washed up once before. Oakland was sick of Moss's mediocre play and handed over him on a silver platter for next to nothing during the 2007 NFL Draft. Moss came to New England with a renewed interest and elevated level of play during his three-plus seasons alongside Tom Brady, showing off those same skills that earned him the nickname "the freak" .
Tuesday's showing will likely spike the level of interest in Moss around the league, even beyond the two unidentified teams that Moss is reportedly set work out for later this week. If his reviews continue to come back as spectacular as on Tuesday, Bill Belichick and recently returned offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could at the very least take a look at a reuniting with the former Patriot.
