The Red Sox finally broke out of their early season slump on Friday, and manager Bobby Valentine seemed pleased by the performance.
Valentine credited starrting pitcher Josh Beckett with what he deemed a "perfect outing" during Boston's 12-2 victory. Beckett allowed just one run over eight innings in the game, and threw consistent strikes all day long.
The one drag on another fabulous afternoon for the Red Sox, All-Star outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury had to leave the game with a shoulder injury.
Valentine didn't expand upon the injury, but he addressed Ellsbury's impact as well as Beckett's performance during Red Sox Extra Innings after the game.
