Celtics' Role Players a Big Reason for Team's Somewhat Surprising Success This Season
There was no denying the Celtics' frontline talent coming into this lockout-shortened season. There's still no questions that players like Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are all very good basketball players, but the question that loomed was how those aging veterans would handle the difficult schedule.

The Big Three battled through it, and Rajon Rondo was terrific once again, but one of the biggest reasons for the Celtics' success this season was the play of their role players. Most notably, Brandon Bass opened eyes with his play while making the trade that brought him in from Orlando for Glen Davis look like a big-time steal. You also have to mention the emergence of Avery Bradley when it comes to talking C's role players, as the young guard has taken his game to a new level this season.

If the Celtics are going to make one more run deep into the NBA playoffs, though, they're going to need continued contributions from Bass, Bradley and the rest of their role players.
