Rob Gronkowski Knocks Out Jared Allen in Madden Bracket, Moves Into Quarterfinals Against Calvin JohnsonPatriots tight end Rob Gronkowski continues to steamroll through the Madden 13 cover bracket, but he's about to face his most difficult challenge in the quarterfinals.

Gronkowski disposed of Vikings defensive end Jared Allen in the second round, capturing 65 percent of the vote to win his third head-to-head matchup, including the preliminary round. Gronkowski had the third most decisive margin of victory in the second round.

Now, he'll meet up with Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson in the quarterfinals. Johnson, who led the NFL in receiving yards in 2011, is one of the most physically imposing receivers in the league, and his popularity really grew last season. Johnson knocked out Texans running back Arian Foster in the second round with 73 percent of the vote, and he throttled Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe in the first round with 92 percent of the vote, which has been the most lopsided matchup in the entire bracket to this point.

The winner of the Gronkowski-Johnson matchup will draw either Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers or Ravens running back Ray Rice.

The other two quarterfinal matchups feature Panthers quarterback Cam Newton against Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz against 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis.

The quarterfinals run through April 11.
