Scott Atchison's Strong Performance Out of Bullpen Leads to Amica Pitcher of the Week HonorsScott Atchison had to earn his way onto the Red Sox roster out of spring training, and he's showing that the club made the right move by keeping him onboard.

Atchison gave up a run in 1 1/3 innings of work in his first outing of the year, but he showed that he can still get it done at age 36 on Monday in Toronto. The right-hander tossed three scoreless innings and received the win as the Sox picked up their first victory of the season in dramatic fashion.

Atchison allowed just one hit in that outing while striking out three. He pitched the sixth, seventh and eighth innings and kept the potent Blue Jays offense at bay, giving the Sox an opportunity to scoop up a 4-2, come-from-behind win.

The Sox pushed across three runs in the top of the ninth inning in that game, and Alfredo Aceves recorded his first save of the season, but it was Atchison's ability to shut down Toronto that gave Boston a chance.

For that, he's this week's Amica Pitcher of the Week.
