Avery Bradley Left Off NBA All-Defensive Teams, Gets Only Three VotesPHILADELPHIA — All you really need to know about the legitimacy of the NBA All-Defensive Team was apparent on Wednesday, when the rosters were announced with Avery Bradley receiving three measly votes.

Bradley, the Celtics' resident ball-stopper and one of the staunchest perimeter defenders in the NBA, received one first-team vote but was named to neither the first nor the second team. Bradley, who became a vital defensive weapon for the Celtics in the second half of the season, probably did not merit a first-team spot, but he certainly should have fared better than ninth among guards in the voting.

Chris Paul and Tony Allen were the first-team guards, with Rajon Rondo and Kobe Bryant manning the second-team backcourt. The Celtics' Kevin Garnett made the second team as a forward.

LeBron James, Serge Ibaka and Dwight Howard joined Paul and Allen on the first team. Tyson Chandler, the 2012 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, was named to the second team — which means the Knicks center is simultaneously the best defender in the league yet not one of the top five defenders in the league.

That makes about as much sense as Bradley getting only three votes.
