Babe Ruth Jersey Sells for $4.4 Million, Sets New Record for Sports MemorabiliaThe sports memorabilia market is apparently still pretty strong, at least when it comes to arguably the most popular athlete in American sports history.

InFlexWeTrust.com points out that a game-worn Babe Ruth jersey has been sold for $4.4 million, which is believed to be a record price for sports memorabilia.

According to the report, the jersey is from circa 1920, making it the oldest Ruth jersey to be auctioned off. The exact price for the jersey was $4,415,658, according to SPA Auctions, the company auctioning off the piece of history.

It broke the previous believed record of $4,338,500, which was paid a couple of years ago for James Naismith's founding rules for the game of basketball.
