The B's 2011 first-round draft pick was named the OHL's defenseman of the year on Tuesday for his work this year with the Niagara IceDogs.
Last year's No. 9 pick was simply dominant this season, leading the league in scoring with 17 goals and 55 assists, despite missing 10 games for a suspension. Hamilton also has 4-15-19 totals in just 15 playoff games for the IceDogs.
"This year has been a ton of fun and it is a huge honor to win this award," Hamilton said in a release. "I spent the last couple of years watching the best defensemen in the league and then trying to get myself to that point and it is exciting to be here now and receive this award. A lot of past winners have gone on to NHL careers and hopefully I can follow suit."
It's pretty safe to assume that Hamilton will go on to have an NHL career, and it will probably be sooner than later.
