David Ortiz, Daniel Nava Carrying Hot Bats Into Series Opener Against RaysEditor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days.

It's the Red Sox' pitching staff that's stolen headlines during the team's five-game winning streak, but the offense is doing its thing as well.

David Ortiz continues to power the Boston attack, while Daniel Nava has been a pleasant surprise since being called up last week.

Ortiz's average sits at .353 after a 2-for-4 performance on Tuesday. He even smacked his eighth home run of the season in that game, while upping his RBI total to 27. It's truly been a blast from the past for the 36-year-old DH this season.

Nava's success, however, is something we're not quite accustomed to. There hadn't been much talk about the 29-year-old outfielder heading into this season, but he's becoming quite the commodity in the Red Sox lineup.

Nava is hitting .533 (7-for-12) while getting on base at a .708 clip. He'll look to sustain that success against Tampa Bay's Jeremy Hellickson on Wednesday.

Here are the Red Sox and Rays temperatures for May 16.
