Before there was Ted Williams or Jim Rice, there was Duffy Lewis.
Lewis patrolled left field in a Red Sox uniform for eight seasons, forming one of the best outfields in baseball history with Tris Speaker and Harry Hooper.
Lewis was known mostly for his defense and his ability to play the left field wall with expertise, although he did drive in 109 runs in 1912.
Speaker and Hooper, meanwhile, enjoyed Hall of Fame careers, both of which began in Boston.
