The four-time Pro Bowler, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, welcomed more than 200 Philadelphia high school students to the stadium Tuesday afternoon for the Eagles Youth Partnership annual chess tournament, according to PhiladelphiaEagles.com.

Vick, who is a fan of the game and has played chess since he was a child, took part in some matches and found himself severely overmatched, especially against one competitor.

Jowel Ammons, 18, a senior at the Philadelphia Military Academy at Leeds, needed only 17 moves to dismantle Vick on the chess table.

Ammons is one of the few people who can say he took down Vick one-on-one. And he’ll see the fruits from his labor as well, as Vick promised Ammons a ticket to an Eagles game if he won.

“I’m going to have to get the ticket for him. I can’t let him down,” Vick said. “That would be very disappointing.”

If Vick knows what he’s doing, he would get Ammons a seat with the coaches and let him use his chess brain to gameplan, too.
