Jonathan Quick,Terry Sawchuk Have Turned In Some of Top Goaltending Performances in Stanley Cup History

It's been a pretty good millennium for the goaltenders' union so far, at least as far as the Stanley Cup playoffs are concerned. Netminders have won five of the 11 Conn Smythe Trophies handed out to the NHL postseason MVP since 2001, including each of the past two years.

Those last two performances by Tim Thomas in 2011 and Jonathan Quick this spring have been among the most dominant exhibitions of puck-stopping in hockey history. Thomas appeared to set a standard no one would meet for ages when he led the Bruins to the Cup in a remarkable run last season. But just a year later, Quick put together a performance that actually topped Thomas' effort as Los Angeles earned its first championship in franchise history.
