Conan O'Brien Disses Kings on Twitter, But Dustin Penner Scores with Top Shelf ComebackNot even a Stanley Cup can earn the Kings any respect from some people.

Late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien fired the latest salvo at the new champs, questioning the level of support the hockey club gets in its hometown of Los Angeles. L.A. also happens to be where Brookline, Mass. native O'Brien films his current show, Conan.

The move to the West Coast hasn't given the Bay State comic any love for L.A. teams though. On Saturday, O'Brien tweeted, "It's quiet today in LA. Reminds me of the day the Kings won the Stanley Cup."

As they did throughout the playoffs, the Kings quickly came up with an answer. Forward Dustin Penner went top shelf as he responded to the slight with a reference to O'Brien ending up on basic cable after Jay Leno forced O'Brien off NBC's The Tonight Show in 2010. Penner tweeted back at O'Brien, "I guess being on TBS you would know what silence sounds like."

We'd say that was cause for the two to drop the gloves, but O'Brien should probably stay away from the rough stuff after suffering a concussion, falling in a race with Teri Hatcher back in his NBC days.

Maybe that blow to the head explains his last Twitter clash with the Kings, when he tweeted, "The @LAKings are playing the @PhoenixCoyotes? I wonder which city that shouldn't have a hockey team will win." That tweet went out on May 25, three days after the Kings ended the Western Conference Final with the Coyotes in five games.
