It was certainly a shocker when the Minnesota Wild managed to grab both of the top free agents available in the NHL market. Now, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter are headed to the Twin Cities — and one of hockey's most passionate markets south of Canada — leaving the larger markets more than a little bit stunned.
In one sense, it was a kind of anti-LeBron decision, with the two stars, who just happen to be friends, choosing one of the smaller markets to team up in. However, the Wild should be stocked for years to come, with some solid pieces already in place and talented youngsters coming up through the pipeline.
The Boston Bruins, however, are looking for nothing more than a few roster tweaks, as this is largely the same club — minus Tim Thomas, of course — that captured the Stanley Cup just about 13 months ago. But with players like Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron and Tuukka Rask still in place, the roster doesn't need an overhaul.
