Ray Allen 'Was Someone That We Really Wanted,' Says Jubilant LeBron JamesLeBron James knows the Heat just made a big steal, and he's not afraid to share it.

"I'm excited. I'm excited," he said Saturday when asked about Ray Allen joining the Heat, according to ESPN. "It was someone that we really wanted. It was someone that we pursued, and we have a lot of confidence in our front office, and they went and did it, so we're excited to have Ray."

James wasn't shy about wanting Allen to sign with the Heat ever since rumors of the possibility began shortly after the Heat won the NBA championship. Allen joining the team won't just be a coup for the Heat's chances at another title next year — it could also start a wave of veterans giving up more money to play for a championship with Miami.

After the Celtics pushed the Heat to seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals, James knows what Allen brings to a team.

"Another guy that can stretch the floor for us, another guy that can make plays not only for himself, but for others, and [he's] a champion," James said. "So he's going to fit right into what we want to do as a team, and it's exciting."

Allen's first chance to officially sign with the team will be Wednesday.
