Ben Cherington Announces Trade With Dodgers, Explains Reasoning in News Conference (Video)

By the time Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington took the podium before Boston lost to the Kansas City Royals in 12 innings on Saturday, pretty much everyone knew the details of the trade he was about to announce.

Nonetheless, Cherington still had plenty of questions to answer. He took queries from the press for about 25 minutes in the wake of the mega-trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto to the Los Angeles Dodgers for James Loney, Ivan De Jesus, Allen Webster and a bevy of prospects.

Watch the video above to see some of Cherington's conference, originally aired on Red Sox First Pitch.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
