The Red Sox made several roster moves Saturday to fill out their bench after finalizing their mega-trade with the Dodgers. Although he won't be added to the roster until Monday, count Daisuke Matsuzaka among those who will be given a chance with four players having been jetisoned to L.A.
Matsuzaka is scheduled to start in place of Josh Beckett on Monday — the Japanese right-hander's first appearance for Boston since a disastrous July 2 start in which Matsuzaka reaggravated an injury in his neck and looked every bit injured in his one-inning outing. Nonetheless, Matsuzaka pitched well in Triple-A with Pawtucket, so it should be a familiar refrain for Red Sox fans in terms of not knowing what to expect from Dice-K, who's usually either awful or brilliant.
