German Teenager Receiving Psychological Counseling After Accidentally Killing Judge in Javelin CompetitionHigh School track meets are usually a good mix of fun and competition. But one German track meet turned tragic over the weekend.

A 74 year-old sporting official was merely doing his job during a competition in Düsseldorf, Germany when he was struck in the throat by a flying javelin, according to The Associated Press.

A 15-year-old boy was the thrower, tossing the javelin a good distance down the field before it unsuspectingly struck the judge in the jugular.

The judge was immediately rushed to the hospital was the severe injuries but ultimately died early Monday. The hospital’s nursing staff identified the man as Dieter Strack, a well respect and well liked member of the local community, according to the report.

“The popular and experienced sports judge was the victim of a tragic
accident while carrying out his duties on 26 August,” the local Düsseldorf athletics association
said on its website. “All of us who were there are horrified and in
shock.”

The boy who threw the javelin is apparently receiving psychological treatment due to the traumatic situation.

The judge’s death is considered an accident, but police are at least looking into the tragic situation.

how solid he is until you see him with his shirt off. He’s pretty
