Lane Kiffin Withdraws From USA Today Coaches Poll After Lying About Voting for USCLane Kiffin and his USC Trojans are expected to compete for a BCS title this year, and the voting in the polls will have an impact on their chances of that. However, Kiffin will no longer be a part of that voting process.

The USC coach is stepping down from his post on the voting panel after USA Today revealed that he had lied about his choice of which team he had voted for.

After told by reporters last week that rival coach Rich Rodriguez had voted for USC as the No. 1 team in the country, Kiffin responded, "I would not vote USC No. 1, I can tell you that."

The only problem? He had done exactly that. And USA Today broke protocol to make the coach's vote public information.

"When a voter volunteers false or misleading information about his vote in public," the paper wrote, "then USA Today Sports, in its oversight role as administrator of the poll, will correct the record to protect the poll's integrity."

So if USC finishes a vote short in the polls at the end of the season, hopefully Kiffin will have learned a valuable lesson about lying.
