Last year, September was not kind to the Red Sox, as the team sputtered down the stretch and missed out on the playoffs thanks to a loss to Baltimore on the final day of the regular season.
With the Red Sox out of contention this time around, they find themselves in a position to play the spoiler to another team’s playoff hopes, similar to how the Orioles did last year. The irony of it all, of course, is that this Septemeber, the O’s are fighting tooth and nail (and beak) for every win they can come by, so the Red Sox could exact some revenge this time around.
NESN’s Tom Caron talked with The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo about what the Red Sox can still accomplish this season. See more in the above video from Red Sox First Pitch.
