The hopes of seeing the Boston Red Sox turn their season around and climb back into playoff contention is now a distant memory.
These days fans have to get used to watching the Sox try and ruin other teams’ playoff hopes, instead of watching them fight for the division or a wild card spot.
As the Sox open up a three-game series with the New York Yankees on Tuesday night, the team will try to end its season on a high note by playing spoiler to their divisional rivals. Of the team’s final 21 games this season, 18 of them are against the Yankees, Rays and Orioles.
