Felix Doubront's performance today was a good argument for why some people say pitcher wins as a statistic don't matter.
Doubront pitched a gem for the Red Sox, striking out eleven Orioles batters in seven innings with just two walks and four hits — and he didn't get the W. Doubront said that he's pitched so well in his last three outings because he's got his confidence back.
For a while there it looked like he had been overworked, and wasn't going to regain the dominance he displayed earlier in the season. You could say this was a throwback performance for Doubront.
