Zach Stewart will get one more start on the mound this season, as he’ll pitch instead of Daisuke Matusuzaka the next time around in the rotation.
Stewart was promoted from Triple-A on Friday, as were Pedro Beato and Danny Valencia. Stewart has appeared in just one game with the Red Sox in 2012, allowing nine runs over three innings in an Aug. 29 loss to the Angels.
Matsuzaka allowed five runs on nine hits over three innings on Wednesday night against the Rays. He’s lasted just 13 1/3 innings over his last four starts, three resulting in losses.
Check out the video above as Peter Gammons and Peter Abraham talk about Boston’s plan for Stewart going forward on Red Sox Gameday Live.
