It was a start to forget for Clay Buchholz on Monday night.
In his final appearance of 2012, Buchholz was shelled in the Bronx, giving up eight runs in 1 2/3 innings, including three home runs in the second inning alone.
The Red Sox were never able to battle back, losing their sixth consecutive game, 10-2. The loss drops Boston to 69-91, and helped the Yankees inch closer toward a division title.
The Bronx Bombers, coupled with the Orioles loss in Tampa Bay, regained a one-game lead in the AL East with two games to play.
