Marcus Lattimore, Willis McGahee, Joe Theismann Among Top 10 Most Gruesome Football Injuries of All Time (Videos)Sometimes football hits are so bad you want to turn away, but just can’t.

On Saturday afternoon, South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore suffered one of those injuries when his knee bent the wrong way and the bottom of his leg seemed to hang limp from the rest of his body. Lattimore was considered a top NFL prospect going into this season, but after this injury, his football future is uncertain. Lattimore broke his femur and patella and tore four ligaments in his knee — his ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL according to Brian VanOchten of the WDGM.

But where does Lattimore’s injury rank among the Top 10 most gruesome football injuries of all time? Unfortunately, the injury that Lattimore sustained wasn’t the first of its kind, nor will it be the last. With so many big bodies flying around, sometimes a 300-pounder happens to land wrong on a player’s leg, arm or back.

The most famous football injury of all time is Joe Theismann‘s broken leg when Lawrence Taylor dragged him down, fracturing his leg. Willis McGahee‘s brutal knee injury in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl National Championship Game may be the college football equivalent of Theismann’s gruesome blow.

Those two injuries were hard to watch, but which football injury ranks as the most gruesome of all time?
