Max Scherzer Wears Mismatched Goggles for Different-Colored Eyes in ALCS Celebration (Photo)Perhaps you’ve noticed something a little bit off about Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer‘s eyes.

The big right-hander, who pitched the Tigers to the American League pennant on Thursday afternoon, has heterochromia iridum. That means he has two different colored eyes.

So it was only fitting that Scherzer wear a special pair of goggles once the Tigers hit the clubhouse following the final out to celebrate their trip to the World Series with champagne and other assorted carbonated beverages. As has become tradition when the bubbly flies, Scherzer and the rest of this teammates went to their goggles to ensure they didn’t suffer from the sweet sting of champagne in the eyes.

Scherzer’s goggles, a gift from his girlfriend, were custom-made for the righty. Naturally the goggles featured two different colored lens, just like his eyes. Get it?

See a photo of Scherzer and his girlfriend, Erica May, in the photo below (Tip of the hat to Yahoo’s Big League Stew for pointing this one out).
