NHL Announces Plan to Withdraw Latest CBA Offer From NHLPA, 82-Game Season in DoubtSorry hockey fans, but a full, 82-game season looks like it’s officially out of the question.

On Thursday, the NHL announced that it would withdraw its existing offer to the Players’ Association, per the deadline laid out with the current proposal.

In that offer, the NHL proposed a “50-50” revenue split between both sides. WIth a shred of optimism about a full season, the NHLPA read over the contract, and proposed three separate agreements. Instead of ending the lockout, the NHL left the bargaining table less than an hour of receiving those offers.

The two sides have not met since last week, and have no talks scheduled for the remainder of this week. ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the NHL may cancel games for the rest of November as early as next week.

The NHL regular season was scheduled to begin on Oct. 11, with the Bruins playing the Philadelphia Flyers. The Winter Classic, scheduled for Jan. 1 between the Maple Leafs and Red Wings, is — at least for now — scheduled to take place.
