After finishing in the bottom half of the Hockey East conference last season, the 2012-13 Providence Friars have a lot to prove in the coming year. Providence went 10-14-3 in the Hockey East last year and didn't fare much better out of conference (4-6-1).
The Friars bring back Ross Mauermann, who led the team last season in points scored. Mauermann and company are hoping to make a splash in the league this season and also break into the NCAA tournament, which would be the first time Providence made it to the national tournament since 2001. The Friars are the only Hockey East team to not compete at that level over the last five seasons.
