Regardless of the outcome of Tuesday's season opener in Miami, the game will be a breath of fresh air. Not only does it mean NBA action has returned, but the Ray Allen drama may finally subside as the focus shifts to actual basketball.
Allen's breakup with the Celtics wasn't exactly pretty, as there were rumors of turmoil with Rajon Rondo, and it became clear that the 37-year-old wasn't happy with his decreased role. But as bad as it seemed, and as unhappy as the C's might be with a guy they thought would end his career in green, the true level of animosity may not be as high as everyone suddenly thinks.
Allen noted that he's a "Celtic for life," and despite any disagreements, it's safe to assume there's still a great deal of mutual respect between Allen and the Celtics organization — as each side has indicated this offseason.
Check out the video above from WEEI's Dennis and Callahan to hear a little bit more about this offseason's whole Allen-to-Miami situation.
