The Red Sox never gave Bobby Valentine the chance to be involved with player signings and trades last offseason, which is something they'll need to change with their new manager.
In order for a manager to try and be successful,he needs to have say in more than just who's in the lineup. Having the manager involved in at least some capacity when Ben Cherington and Co. are making roster decisions can only help as well. Also, decisions regarding the coaching staff should involve the manager.
