The Red Sox have a lot of holes to fill this offseason, and they may need to take a creative route to acquire top players.
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe has Josh Hamilton, Joe Mauer and Kyle Lohse on his Red Sox wishlist this year. He said the team needs to find two top bats — one in the outfield and one for first base. Mauer was placed on waivers by the Twins this past season, so Cafardo thinks the Twins catcher/first baseman is available.
NESN’s Tom Caron is shooting for the stars with his wishlist. He thinks the team should trade for Felix Hernandez and take a flyer by trading for Justin Morneau, who has just one year left on his contract. Caron also thinks the Red Sox should go after speedster Michael Bourn.
Check out what Ben Cherington said he’s thankful for this Thanksgiving and hear Cafardo and Caron’s reasoning for their Red Sox offseason needs in the video from Red Sox Now above.
