Chris Bourque has been arguably the most talked about Bruins player in this year’s compressed training camp, garnering praise from everyone from his teammates to head coach Claude Julien to NESN’s own Andy Brickley.
“He was outstanding, best player on the ice for the Bruins tonight,” Brickley said after Bourque’s two-point showing for the B’s in Tuesday’s Black and Gold scrimmage.
The son of former Boston great Ray Bourque is the favorite to join Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley on the third line this season. Kelly has been similarly complimentary of the young winger’s play thus far.
“He skates well, he’s got a great shot and he thinks the game well,” Kelly said. “In the [defensive] zone we had to change, and things like that aren’t a problem [with him]. He’s fit in quite nice.”
