It seems like just yesterday that John Farrell was leading the Red Sox’ pitching staff under Terry Francona. But two years have passed since Farrell left to manage the Blue Jays, so he understands some things in Boston have changed.
Farrell said before Thursday’s Red Sox Town Hall that he’s been trying to reconnect with players and meet new players since getting hired as the club’s new manager back in October. Farrell is known for taking a hands-on managerial approach, so this concerted effort to reach out to his players isn’t all that surprising. Still, the Sox skipper made it clear that interacting with guys before spring training has been a major emphasis.
Farrell wants the Red Sox to be as prepared as possible before heading into the 2013 season, and he couldn’t be any more excited about the idea of leading Boston back to the top of the AL East.
