For the last two seasons, the Red Sox have been a predicted playoff team. This year, most MLB analysts have Boston finishing in the AL East cellar. Surprisingly, Larry Lucchino prefers it that way.
“I kind of prefer being the underdog, being the scrappy, hard-charging team that people don’t expect much from,” Lucchino said on WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan. “I think that’s maybe a bit of a competitive advantage. If we fall into that category, so be it.”
Lucchino wouldn’t put a number of the amount of wins he expects from the team this year, but he said that health will have a lot to do with it. The past two seasons, the injury bug has hit the Red Sox hard.
