Bruins Stumble After Stellar First Period, Tire Late in Loss to Islanders (Video)

Bruins head coach Claude Julien said that his team played better in the first period Thursday night than they had all season. Unfortunately, Periods 2 and 3 didn’t go quite as well.

Boston couldn’t seem to muster any offense as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the New York Islanders, who have surprised everyone by going 9-1-1 in their last 11 games and would be a playoff team if the season ended today.

“We played pretty solid, still,” said Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, who finished with 34 saves. “Considering it was the third game in four nights, I don’t think this was a bad game for us.”

The B’s will take Friday off before taking on the Hurricanes in Raleigh on Saturday. For more postgame reaction from the Bruins, plus Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley‘s breakdown of the game, check out the video above.
