In 2011, Tim Thomas etched his name in NHL lore, playing some of the best hockey of his life to backstop the Bruins to a Stanley Cup championship. Now two seasons later, Tuukka Rask is attempting to do the same.
Through the first 13 games of their respective postseasons, the two goalies’ numbers are strikingly similar. Both posted 9-4 records, and Rask actually held a slight edge over his predecessor in both goals against average and save percentage.
Rask posted his first career playoff shutout in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday, and he’ll look to give the Bruins a 2-0 series lead over the Penguins when the teams meet again Monday night.
