The Red Sox will in all likelihood be the No. 1 seed in the American League when the playoffs begin. Who they’ll play once the postseason rolls around, though, remains a mystery.
There are still three teams vying for just two wild card spots, making for some serious intrigue entering the final few days of the regular season. The Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians are currently tied atop the standings with just two games to play, but the Texas Rangers are still hanging around at just one game back.
There are all sorts of scenarios that could break down in the wild-card race over the next few days, including a three-way tie between the teams. With so much potential for confusion, NESN’s Tom Caron took the liberty of breaking down all the playoff possibilities between the three teams, even using some live props to help demonstrate.
