Player Safety in NHL Remains Big Issue, Sportsnet’s John Shannon Says Dangerous Hits Partly ‘Art of Survival’ (Video)

The season is just getting underway, but already a significant number of players have been sidelined with scary injuries due to some reckless hits on the ice.

While injuries are a part of the game, Sportsnet’s John Shannon fears the big hits are becoming a part of the game plan for some players as an “act of survival” to keep up with the speed of the game. Repeat offenders are also a concern for the NHL, but he believes the increased suspensions will hopefully keep “predatory” types of players off the ice permanently.
