The Bruins are no stranger to honoring the real heroes of America.
The team that gave its top player an Army Ranger jacket throughout last year’s playoff run was part of a special tribute before Monday afternoon’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The B’s had a hat tip to all veterans, but they saved a special moment for Paul Monti, the father of Jared Monti, who received the Medal of Honor after being killed in battle in Afghanistan in 2006. After Jared’s death, Paul told country music singer Lee Brice that his family kept his son’s memory alive by driving his truck around, and Brice wrote a song immortalizing the family’s story.
Paul Monti was on the TD Garden ice Monday as the Bruins paid homage to those who sacrifice or have sacrificed for their country. See the honor in the video above.
