The Bruins gave a strong effort in the first and third periods of Thursday’s game in Montreal, but a poor second period in which the Canadiens scored two unanswered goals was enough for Boston to lose first place in the Atlantic Division with a 2-1 defeat.
Defensive breakdowns contributed to Montreal’s pair of goals in the second frame, and as a result, the Bruins’ second-period goal differential on the season is minus-two.
