Zdeno Chara, Not Milan Lucic, Correctly Credited For First-Period Goal (Video)

Milan Lucic was originally credited with the Boston Bruins’ second goal of the game Tuesday night before a scoring change gave the goal to Zdeno Chara.

With a lot of bodies in front of the net, it was difficult to discern whose goal it really was, so the Bruins Fanalyst segment broke the play down in slow motion to prove undoubtedly that the score belonged to Big Z. Chara’s shot bounced off Tim Thomas’ glove and a Florida Panthers defenseman before finally trickling behind the line, but the puck never touched Lucic — despite what Lucic thought.

“I felt something,” Lucic told NESN’s Jamie Erdahl with a laugh during the first intermission. “Whether it was the puck or a punch from Tim Thomas, I felt something.”

Check out Chara’s goal in the video above.
