FORT MYERS, Fla. — There’s been plenty of buzz surrounding Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz over the last few days. Things didn’t change Thursday.
All eyes were fixated on Ortiz, who participated in the Red Sox’s first full-squad workout in Fort Myers on Thursday. Ortiz, accompanied by a large crowd wherever he went, took reps at first base, participated in baserunning drills and swung for the fences during batting practice.
Ortiz, who has made headlines recently because of his desire for a new contract, received plenty of cheers from the crowd at Thursday’s workout. Ortiz said upon arriving in Fort Myers that he’s feeling great physically, and the 38-year-old looked to be in excellent shape Thursday.
