After recently offering some pretty harsh criticism of Danica Patrick, Richard Petty sounds like he’s ready to back up his comments.
Tony Stewart, a friend of Patrick’s who also owns the team she races for, issued a challenge to Petty following his remarks about Patrick’s apparent lack of driving skills.
“I think that (a race) would settle it once and for all — maybe get him to shut up a little bit, too,” Stewart said, according to yardbarker.com. “… I will supply the cars. If he wants to race her, I’ll make sure they have exactly the same setup in the car and give him the chance. He can drive one of my 14 cars, I don’t care.”
Petty responded to Stewart’s challenge in an appearance on “Fox and Friends.” Even though he hasn’t raced in 25 years, he appears very confident in himself, which can be seen below via TMZ Sports.
While a date and time for the spectacle haven’t been set yet, the tension brewing between Patrick and Petty could manifest into a very compelling race.
