Jonny Gomes and David Ortiz Reflect On First Home Game After Bombing (Video)

The Boston Red Sox’s homestand that begins Friday will be a reminder of the first game at Fenway Park following last year’s Boston Marathon bombing.

Sunday is the anniversary of that game, and Monday, the final game of the Red Sox-Baltimore Orioles series, takes place during the 118th Boston Marathon. Jonny Gomes and David Ortiz talked about what that means to them before Friday’s game.

“I don’t want to hang a win-loss record on how much we care about the city, and how much we embrace the ‘Boston Strong,'” Gomes said. “I think we helped out, but those people who came and threw the first pitch and the people who were out of sight but not out of mind…those people did their share.”
