New York Yankees starting pitcher Michael Pineda was ejected from Wednesday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park for using pine tar.

The 25-year-old pitcher put the foreign substance on his neck, and when Red Sox manager John Farrell spotted it, he asked umpire Gerry Davis to check it out. After examining the situation, the umpire ejected Pineda.

Check out the video above to watch Pineda and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman discuss the situation.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
