When the Boston Red Sox reported their injuries before Saturday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers, the results weren’t exactly what was expected.
Outfielder Shane Victorino had sat for the past two games with a knee injury and underwent an MRI on Friday. But he wasn’t the one who landed himself on the disabled list.
Victorino was cleared to play, but it was third baseman Will Middlebrooks who found himself sitting after it was determined that he fractured his finger Friday on a hot shot off the bat of Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler. Brock Holt was recalled from Pawtucket to take his place.
