The struggling Boston Red Sox have one glaring hole in their roster: an outfield that can’t seem to produce any offense.
Defensively, the Sox outfielders are a pretty talented bunch, but their bats are more important when starting pitchers are ineffective.
General manager Ben Cherington wouldn’t divulge too many details on the matter but said that adding a player before the MLB’s July 31 trade deadline is always an option. They’re also not ruling out what infielder Brock Holt could do for them in the outfield.
